Let’s jump into Issue #3.

Seeing Business As A Global Force For Hope

Russ Collins, founder of Ozark Mix DJ + Photo Booths in Arkansas, sees business as a universal language that transcends borders, cultures, and continents. Through his journey with Bold Creators and his time in Uganda in 2024, Russ discovered a powerful truth: when done together and grounded in Christ, business becomes a force for hope and Kingdom impact far greater than anything achieved alone.

As Russ engaged with fellow entrepreneurs in Uganda, what began as collaboration around business ideas quickly grew into a shared mission to live like Christ in their businesses, homes, and communities. Hearing how his Ugandan counterparts navigated the same challenges opened his eyes to new approaches he had never considered.

Russ returned home with practical insights and a renewed sense of hope about what God can do when entrepreneurs come together around a greater mission.

Hear from Russ yourself in a short video recap HERE.

Growing Like Jesus

The Gospel of Luke gives us one of the few glimpses of Jesus as a child:

Mary and Joseph are traveling home after visiting Jerusalem for the Passover. After a full day of travel, they realize Jesus isn't with their group. They search for three days and eventually find him all the way back in Jerusalem at the Temple, amazing all the teachers there with his profound understanding.

After responding to his parents' understandably anxious frustration at him disappearing for three days, the story concludes like this:

"Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." (Luke 2:51-52, NIV)

I love that this story gives us a small window into the personality of Jesus as a 12-year-old. For one thing, His version of being rebellious at that age probably looked a lot different than ours. Unless you, too, were sneaking off to church instead of... probably anywhere else!

But I also love that Luke's description of how Jesus grew gives us a framework for our own growth:

  • In Wisdom: Jesus honored God with his mind. Proverbs 4:7 tells us, "Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment." For redemptive entrepreneurs, this might mean pursuing new skills, seeking godly counsel, or studying your industry with fresh eyes.

  • In Stature: Jesus honored God with his body. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Physical health, rest, and discipline aren't separate from our spiritual lives. They're part of stewarding what God has given us.

  • In Favor with God and Man: Jesus honored God with his relationships. When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus pointed to two relationships: love God with everything you have, and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-40). Our businesses exist at the intersection of these two loves. We love God by stewarding the gifts and opportunities He has given us while loving neighbors by solving real problems. Every product decision, customer interaction, and team meeting becomes an opportunity to simultaneously worship God and serve others well.

Where do you sense God calling you to grow this year: in wisdom, in how you care for yourself, or in your relationships with Him and others?
