Hey Bold Creators!

This month we're sitting with a question most entrepreneurs avoid:

How do you know when to keep pushing or if God is pointing you somewhere new?

In today’s newsletter:

  • 🧭 How to know when it’s time to change direction

  • 📸 Pictures from our recent barbecue in Kampala

  • 📆 Upcoming events to put on your radar

Let's dive in!

How to Respond When God Changes Your Direction

There's an old saying often attributed to Einstein: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Most of us entrepreneurs ignore it completely.

We are wired for persistence. We celebrate the grinder, the never-quit mentality, the founder who bet everything and won. And sometimes that grit is exactly what the moment requires.

But sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is stop.

Years ago, I owned a restaurant. I loved the people, the energy, the idea of it. But the numbers told a different story. It was draining my finances, straining my family, quietly stealing my future. Everyone around me could see it. I couldn't. Or maybe I could, and I just refused to accept it.

The restaurant didn't close because I made the hard call. It closed because the decision got made for me.

At the time, I was devastated. Looking back, I can see it clearly: God had been trying to redirect me long before the doors shut. He was nudging me toward something better, something I never would have pursued if I'd stayed comfortable in something that was slowly suffocating me.

My only real regret is that I didn't close it myself.

We don't talk enough about this in entrepreneurship. Staying in something too long can look a lot like faithfulness. But when you're grinding away at the same thing, getting the same results, and the people closest to you are paying the price — that's usually fear disguised as “a hard work ethic.”

This isn’t a suggestion that you quit on your dreams, but to loosen your grip on the version of the dream that isn’t working.

Don't confuse stubbornness with faithfulness. God can give you a new assignment without canceling your calling.

Sit with these questions for a bit:

  • Are you still growing, or just surviving?

  • Is your persistence rooted in purpose, or in pride?

  • Are the people closest to you paying a price for you to stay in this?

God doesn't waste a closed door. But He does expect us to eventually stop knocking on it.

The best chapter of my story started when I finally moved on from the restaurant. Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is loosen your grip, and trust that God is already holding the next door open.

Bold Creators Gathered in Kampala

Last month, our team in Uganda hosted a Business & BBQ Catch-Up. Entrepreneurs gathered for a laid back evening of networking and great food. We love seeing the way these gatherings encourage our community.

Here are a few photos from the evening. See if you can spot any faces you recognize.

📆 Save the Date

We have a couple events coming up in the United States. More details to come, but we’d love for you to go ahead and save the date.

  • May 20 - A night of networking in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

  • May 27 - A night of networking in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Pray for Entrepreneurs

Thank God for our growing community! We had an overwhelming number of applicants for the 2026 Cohort.

Pray for wisdom as our team reviews applications and makes final selections.

"Father, help us to hold our plans in open hands. Give us wisdom to know when you’re calling us in a new direction and the courage to obey.”
